Our History

The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) was founded in 2011 through a merger of Bunda College of Agriculture and the Natural Resources College. This unification established a nationally respected institution rooted in agricultural innovation, scientific research, and community impact. LUANAR has since grown into one of Malawi’s leading public universities, recognised for its role in driving sustainable development and education reform in the region.

LUANAR ECAMPUS was created to expand access to quality higher education beyond physical boundaries. As demand for flexible and work-compatible study options increased, LUANAR responded by launching its online learning campus. LUANAR ECAMPUS bridges tradition and innovation, delivering the same rigorous academic standards as our on-campus programmes, now accessible from anywhere in the world. Through this platform, students gain advanced knowledge while balancing work, family, and other commitments.
